When MakeSite is a suitable choice
MakeSite suits a site that primarily presents business information and needs periodic content updates. Its workflow centers on entering content, checking the result, and publishing a reviewed version. The static website builder guide explains this process and its limits.
Check that an available design supports the required content and page structure. MakeSite content editing works within those boundaries. A requirement for arbitrary layout changes needs closer evaluation.
When Wix warrants consideration
Wix warrants consideration when a site needs extensive visual customization or a combination of website and business tools, such as a store or appointment booking. Its scheduling product includes appointment calendars and booking management. Identify the required features first, then check the Wix plan that provides them.
Moving to MakeSite is most relevant when the intended result is a straightforward information website. A working Wix store or booking operation requires a migration plan for its application data and services as well as its public pages.
Compare the complete cost
MakeSite costs €6 per month, including VAT, per published website. Twelve monthly payments total €72 at that rate. Add the domain provider's registration or renewal charge.
Wix states that prices and currency vary by location and that prices displayed for yearly subscriptions are paid in full. Its final checkout determines the applicable total. Before moving an existing site
- List the pages, contact details, and business functions that must remain available.
- Check the required page structure against an available MakeSite design. Assess forms, bookings, payments, and other integrations individually.
- Plan for a manual rebuild of the required content, then review the result on desktop and mobile.
- Record existing page addresses and check requirements for preserving links and redirects before changing the domain connection.
- Keep the existing site available until the replacement has been reviewed. Change only the relevant website DNS records and preserve records used by email or other services.
